Over the years, REI has closed its doors every Friday to encourage people to enjoy their time outdoors after Thanksgiving. In fact, it has a previous sale – Gear Up Get Out Sale – so you can still enjoy great discounts on great outdoor gear. The sale runs until November 21st, and we’ve scoured everything to find the best overseas deals.

Hiking and Camping Tours
This is one of the best money day papers. It’s light at only 14 ounces so it won’t strain your back, yet it has comfortable shoulder straps and two external pockets for water bottles, which many smaller packs don’t have. It holds 22 liters, which is enough to carry a rain jacket, lunch, water, sweater, and maps for the day. There is also a version with pictures taken for the same price.
If you like the idea of being able to handle it all but still have a backup plan in case things go wrong, a satellite talker can keep you connected to emergency providers and loved ones at home. You can share your location, communicate back and forth, and activate the SOS button if you need to be rescued. The InReach Mini 2 weighs only 3.5 ounces and is compact enough to take up little room in a pocket. The battery lasts for 4 to 14 days, depending on the settings and the price cover. Sure, the new iPhone 14 can do all that, but it won’t help if the battery dies after a day.
The Trail Hut 2 tent strikes the perfect balance between price, weight, and quality. The hardware, like the zipper and guyline tie-outs, are sturdy, and the 78-ounce weight — while not featherweight — isn’t too heavy. The interior design is well laid out with interior pockets and double doors and vestibules. It is recommended that you plan to hike on your own and need space inside packs or gear. If you want to sleep two or three people in a tent, check out the Trail Hut 4 ($209), which is similar but larger (also on sale). Read our Best Tents guide for more information.

Foam shelters alone are not warm enough for winter camping. To protect you and your sleeping bag from the cold, choose an inflatable model like this one. NeoAir is an excellent insulator, plus it’s lightweight at 12 ounces and can be packed into a small roll. Speaking from experience, it gets hotter when the mercury drops.
Gasoline stoves are one of the most difficult things to bring to the backyard. The downside is that they are often noisy and destroy the natural tranquility, but the WhisperLite is quiet compared to its peers. Canister stoves can give you a hard time in the winter, but MSR’s bomb-proof WhisperLite will last in any season.
Walking down the street with a flashlight gets old, and it’s almost impossible to set up a tent in the dark while trying to hold it. Free your hands with a headlamp. The Spot 400 is the latest, most reliable model that can throw 400 lumens up to 100 meters below its peak. Its three AAA batteries will last for 200 hours at a low, six-lumen setting, which is enough for camping tasks like getting ready for bed.

The 7S Sapphire Solar (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a powerful all-in-one smartwatch that can track your biometric data from a variety of outdoor activities: biking, swimming, running, and more. It’s our favorite outdoor watch because of its fast and accurate GPS connection in the rain and under frozen trees, and it also has an altimeter, barometer, and compass. Read our best Garmin Watches guide for more information.

It’s no wonder we named them the most expensive in our Best Trail Running Shoe guide. Just look at them. Beauty is not only skin deep, however. They are lightweight, breathable, and provide excellent traction on loose surfaces. Just remember that Nikes run a little small, so you should consider half a size up.

Chafing is not fun. Whether you’re rocking the latest pair of bike pants or sticking with tried and true denim jeans, pop a pair of cropped shorts underneath to dress up and rip on the bike. The stretchy, breathable polyester fabric wicks away moisture, preventing you from feeling like a puddle on long walks.
We ranked the best winter pants in our Best Running Gear guide, thanks to the high waist and drawstring that keep them from falling down while running. As an insulating base layer under the pants, it adds extra warmth in harsh weather. Despite the temperature of 30 degrees, it kept our reader warm and has been for many years with little wear. One downside is that they only come in a 28-inch inseam, which can leave tall runners with cold ankles.

Goosedown jackets are only getting more expensive, but REI’s home brand has stayed the same price for years. Now, it is being sold at a price that has never been matched and never beaten. Two zippered pockets for hand warmers on the outside are combined with two open pockets inside the jacket that can store beanies, gloves, and scarves. It is thermal as an outer layer or an insulating middle layer.
This is my favorite outdoor folding chair, and it’s made of solid aluminum, 300-denier nylon fabric, and solid wood armrests. It weighs 7 pounds 7 ounces and can hold up to 250 pounds. There is also a padded version that is also on sale for a much lower price of $22, but it tends to go in and out a lot; sign up to check back next time to see if the deal returns.
I named Big Haul the best duffel bag in my Best Travel Bags book because it’s made with Bluesign certified nylon fabric and has plenty of interior and exterior organization pockets, as well as hidden zippers so you can carry heavy loads. on your back. Anyone who has ever carried a heavy duffel through an airport can appreciate that. This 28-liter model is perfect for a weekend getaway and is small enough to serve as a carry-on on a flight. There are many sizes on sale, up to a large 120 liter model.
You won’t qualify if you blow your noggin in an accident. Keep your melons safe with this protective bike helmet from Nutcase. Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) is a technology that provides additional protection to your brain from surrounding injuries. It’s worth paying a little extra. There are many styles available, from solid colors to bold designs.
Ditch the single-use plastics and go with a durable, reusable Nalgene water bottle for your hydration needs, from desk to camp. There are many other products available here, which do not appear on the previously linked website, to reduce the cost there. These brands are BPA free, so sip without worry.
