Sleep is important, but it is not always easy. Some people can sleep on a log, and some of us need the best mattresses, the brightest sheets of paper, and the best sound systems nearby. Fortunately, there are Black Friday deals for all of these things. The prices here for the mattress are queen size.
We test products throughout the year and select these products. Products that have sold out or are no longer in print will be
he crossed. We will update this guide during Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend.
When it comes to mattresses, the rule of thumb is to never pay full price. No matter the time of year, there is always a sale coming up. List prices are set arbitrarily to make the product appear expensive, but it is not. We’ve selected the best below, but our Best Mattresses guide has more options and detailed descriptions of hybrid and full foam.
This is our favorite mattress, and it’s the one you should get if money is no object. This is the same price as the Memorial Day sale and $50 more than last Friday (the starting price has gone up). It lives up to its Luxe name and is sleek and smooth on the surface, yet has a mid-range feel that’s perfect for all living spaces. The amount of money depends on the size you choose. Click the preview button at the top of the page to see the amount, and the code you’ll need to enter at checkout. Each mattress set comes with two pillows.
Don’t want to spend as much money as Helix? Casper is a great way to go if you’re not sure what mattress to buy. It’s what our author called “as close to unsettled as beds come.” You’ll get softer support, better breathability, and more edge support than a full foam mattress.
This mattress is perfect if you need some rest to get a good night’s sleep. You will sink into its superior quality of flexible foam, it is supportive. There is a green ceramic gel foam to melt the heat, and it can keep its shape, so there will be no human show the next night.
Does the thought of spending too much money on a bed keep you awake at night? Well, this is a solid deal. Nectar mattresses are a great option for side sleepers. Its MSRP is $999 but we often see it drop to $799, so this is a real discount. It’s a full foam bed, not a hybrid, but it’s simple enough – it sinks, but it doesn’t swallow. If you want to add two pillows, sheets, and mattress protectors, you will need to add accessories that can be provided for $99.
Functionality of Sound Systems
You can find more ideas in our Best Machines guide.
Click the coupon button on the page to see the discount at checkout. If you want a sound system and a sunrise alarm (including a digital clock!), Hatch hits here. Using this app, you can organize your morning and night routines, and choose your own alarms and sleep sounds. It is expensive even with this discount. Signing up for a Hatch Sleep Membership gives you an updated library of quotes, stories, and meditations, but it’s not mandatory.
Click the coupon button on the page to see the discount at checkout. This version of Hatch is designed for babies, but anyone can use it. It has child-friendly features, such as sleep timers and timer lights. It’s great so early risers don’t annoy their parents with only one day of sleep, and it can be helpful for older adults who need a reminder to turn off their phones and take a moment to sleep. Using this app, you can change the colors and rotate the words. The second version uses Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth.
I really like Morphée products. It’s thoughtfully designed and screen-free. You can get cheaper sound systems, but these also add more meditation. You can go from bonfire sounds to meditative sessions designed for deep sleep. The downside is that you can choose between playing for 8 or 20 minutes; I wish it would play audio continuously.
Get this one for kids. It’s not only beautiful, but meditation also takes children on a journey with their animal companion. I gave one to a friend whose daughter loved it, and listened and rocked it from room to room. It has the same limitations as written for adults.
Heavy Blanket Products
Our Best Weighted Blankets guide breaks down weights and sizes and has many options.
The Yaasa heavy blanket is expensive and not cheap, but it’s our favorite if you like a sturdy, heavy blanket. The open mesh design is cute and allows for airflow if you’re a hot sleeper like me. It feels a lot heavier than the other options too (that’s a good thing!). You can get them in 15 or 20-pound sizes.
Gravity may be the most popular blanket company, and this blanket is its first affordable blanket. It left nothing to be desired—I loved sleeping with it. It’s 15 pounds and the perfect size for one person to enjoy without upsetting the other. It is machine washable, but there are also several cover options. When you buy a blanket from Amazon, there is an additional 10 percent discount on the site.
You can get a large blanket for less with the Gravity method above, but Brooklinen is beautiful, especially in terracotta and dark green colors. It’s a good 12 pounds, with a textured side and a smooth cotton side.
The discount is only applied at checkout. Baloo’s throw is thinner than Brooklinen’s, so it might be good for solo sleepers (or if your partner doesn’t like heavy blankets). It’s a cool cotton, and there are fabric covers available in the most beautiful colors. The blanket can be machine washed and tumble dried.
More About Sleep
Body pillows are usually either taller than you or shorter. With this Wiggle pillow, I can wrap it around me, and put my head on top of it. I sleep better with this squeeze. The brand also makes fuzzy covers, but they are now sold out. The cover makes it feel like a bear, but I like the cold without it.
WIRED reviewer Haley Sprankle has been testing sheets, and this sateen from Brooklinen is a standout. He says he feels the softness of butter but does not keep him warm at night. It also comes in beautiful, neutral colors, and a variety of colors like a stunning kaleidoscope.
The Blissy silk mask is cool and soft, and blocks out all the light so I can sleep. It also comes in 38 colors (!!) I alternate between this and the Nodpod sleeping mask.
WIRED reviews editor Julian Chokkattu likes Parachute’s sleek sheets, but plain fabrics, sateens, and cottons are also on sale. They don’t come in a set, so you’ll have to buy the $64 ($16 off) top sheet and the $72 ($18 off) cover sheet separately — there are $63 ($16 off) shams if you want them. If you don’t sleep with a high quality sheet, this might be perfect for you.
