Almost everyone has flashlight in their pocket these days in the form of a smartphone, but it is not very good. Sure, it does the trick for walking around the house in the dark or pointing at a keyhole, but try stopping it to light up the bowels of your PC or that box you’re rummaging through in the attic. You can bet it will slip and drag you into the dark at the most irritating moment. What you need, my friends, is the Wiz Luminaire Portable Light.
This amazing lamp is a marriage of old and new that has lit up my life (pun intended), and it’s helpful. It has a sleek curvy design with a convenient handle, is wireless, provides hours of light, and recharges via the USB-C port. Like almost everything these days, it integrates with the Wiz app so you can choose the right lighting for any occasion. When my daughter isn’t using it as a night light, I like to roam the sky like an old town watchman. Unlike a phone flashlight, you can stand this flashlight on the floor or hang it on a hook to illuminate all directions.
Portable and Practical
Going into my attic means fighting through piles of boxes and old things that I don’t want to get rid of but have to. This cold, dark labyrinth has no lighting, and is difficult (and dangerous) to navigate with just a smartphone flashlight.
I’m still mentally scarred from when I dropped my phone, which went off and left me in the dark a few feet from the door. A perfectly timed noise (source unknown) sent me reeling and spinning with my heart pounding in my chest. I’ve seen enough horror movies to know what’s going to happen next. I hit my head on a tree, knocked over several piles of debris, and couldn’t make it out alive.
I decided to get a better light. The next time I needed to get something out of the attic, the Wiz Portable Lamp had just arrived, and I brought it with me. When I get close to the hot light, my attic is very dangerous, and I found what I needed in advance. Since then, I’ve carried this faithful companion on everything from picking up the cat at night to hunting in the back of the great room to taking out the trash in the dark.
This lamp emits 400 lumens, which is equivalent to a standard 40 watt light bulb. At the top are the functional controls, which allow you to turn the light on and off, adjust the brightness, and set it to dim. There is also an app that offers many lighting options, including colors and dynamic lighting. When my partner sleeps, I sometimes use it as a candle light for reading, because it gives off a softer light than my bedside lamp and I can place it anywhere.
