Lemon was asked at the RFK Civil Rights Awards on Tuesday if he believed the two anchors would be returned, with the CNN host saying he hoped he could see Holmes alone “so I could give him a hug.”
“I hope I will and I hope I can see him in person so I can hug him,” he said. “I love them and I wish them the best ‘and I think we have to give people some grace in this situation until we know the truth.’
Meanwhile, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez will host “GMA3” on their behalf, where many internal meetings are held online on how to deal with the crisis.
The news about the workplace has become a lot of “internal and external interference,” the president of ABC News said.
ABC News president Kim Godwin made the announcement in a phone call Monday morning, calling the romance “disturbing inside and out.”
“After a lot of thought I’m removing Amy and TJ as we figure it out,” he said.
He said that while what he thought was “not a violation of the company’s rules,” removing them from their regular seats was necessary for the “GMA” brand.
The news that Holmes and Robach have been fired from the air comes just days after sources told TMZ that there will be no disciplinary action against the rumored relationship.
Despite reports that Amy and Andrew have split, DailyMail.com has learned that the couple have spoken to a mediator.

Inside sources of “GMA” also say that the staff is angry and disappointed with the way the affair has affected the media house.
ABC insiders were initially surprised to see the pair continue to work on the air, telling DailyMail.com last week that “we’re a family show” and that “Disney needs to do something about this.”
“We are a family resort and these two don’t reflect family style or Disney style.”
