Austin’s Circuit of the Americas will host a Sprint race for the first time
Formula 1 has confirmed the venue for its six Sprint events in the 2023 season, with four tracks having a shortened format for the first time.
Azerbaijan, Belgium, Qatar and the United States will make their debut as Sprint hosts, Austria will host the event for the second season in a row, and Brazil will retain its record as the only country to have made an appearance since its inception in 2021.
F1 has doubled the number of Sprints from three – as we have seen in 2021 and 2022 – to six in the coming campaign, while the audience of the Grand Prix is eager to participate in famous events, which shake up the format of all the days of the week and offer more wheels. action is another type.
The format sees Qualifying take place on Friday, before Saturday’s drivers race 100km – a third of the normal distance – in a race to chase down the Grand Prix grid slots and target their hopes of victory.
