Gabby PetitoBrian Laundrie’s parents have been awarded $3 million, months after a trial in the murder of a suspected murderer. RadarOnline.
The verdict comes after his 22-year-old mother, Nichole Schmidt, filed a murder charge at Laundrie’s home in May.
Gabby was first identified in September 2021, and her body was found the same month.
A $3 Million Verdict Was Issued Thursday, Nearly One Year After Gabby’s Remains Were Found
According to a reporter who has been following the Petito-Laundrie case since its inception, it is reported that the final $3 million settlement was reached Thursday morning, nearly a year after Gabby’s remains were found in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest.
Reporter Brian Entin writes: “A final $3,000,000 judgment has been entered in a lawsuit filed by Gabby Petito’s parents against the estate of Brian Laundrie, according to the family’s attorney.
Entin went on to say that $3 million is “a rough number,” since the Laundrie property does not come close to the mountain. In fact, the judgment seems more symbolic than anything.

The property isn’t worth anywhere near that amount, so $3M is mostly unnecessary.

Any money raised from the Laundrie will go to a foundation created in Gabby’s name, Entin said, before saying that the trial scheduled for December will not take place.
“Brian Laundrie didn’t have 3 million – it’s an uncountable number – but any money he receives will go to the Gabby Petito foundation, the family says,” the reporter continued. “The trial that was supposed to take place in December, 2022 will not take place.”

It was confirmed that the Laundrie family does not have the $3 million given to the Petito family. It remains unclear whether any money released by the Laundrie estate will go to Gabby’s parents.
According to CNN, in the wrongful death lawsuit, Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt said Brian advised his parents that he killed their daughter on August 28, 2021, one day after Gabby died.

The lawsuit states, “While Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt searched deeply for their daughter, Christopher Laundrie and Roberta Laundrie kept Brian Laundrie a secret.” And they believe that they were planning to leave the country.”
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that on August 30, Brian sent a text message to Nichole pretending to be Gabby. He said he didn’t have a job in the message while he was in Yosemite Park.

However, the family believes that the message was sent to make Nichole believe that her daughter is still alive. Unfortunately, the last contact Nichole received from her daughter was on August 27, according to the suit.
August 30 is said to be the day he is believed to have been killed and stabbed. The family cited a text message sent from Gabby’s phone that day in which she called her grandfather “Stan,” leading them to believe it wasn’t Gabby they were talking to.

Her parents said that Gabby never mentioned her grandmother’s name.
Before Thursday’s sentencing, Gabby’s parents asked the judge to compensate them for the pain and suffering, mental anguish, disorientation, and loss of opportunity to enjoy life that they have experienced in the past and in the future.
Although Thursday’s ruling ends the Petito family’s wrongful-death lawsuit, another lawsuit filed by Gabby’s parents against Brian Laundrie’s parents is still pending, and is set to go to trial next year. The Shade Room was reported in March.
