Greg Norman says he is unfazed by criticism from PGA Tour golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and insists he will stay on as CEO of LIV “for a long time”.

As the bitter rivalry between the two tours rages, Norman said on Saturday he doesn’t pay attention to anything Woods and McIlroy have to say.

Earlier this week, Woods said Norman “has to go,” a suggestion McIlroy made last month.

“I care about McIlroy and Woods, don’t I?” Norman told Today’s Golfer. “They have their agenda for whatever reason. They’re saying whatever they want to say. It doesn’t matter or the consequences to me. I’ll be with LIV for a long, long time.”

The new tour, sponsored by the Saudis, has upset many PGA golfers over the fee.

Meanwhile, loyal golfers on the PGA Tour were outraged by the way Norman-led LIV operated.

There is also the issue of both sides suing each other. Woods said the two parties could not find peace until Norman was removed from his leadership position.

“I think there’s an opportunity out there if both organizations drop their lawsuits,” Woods said Tuesday at the Hero World Challenge, where he’s co-hosting the event. “But that’s the problem … they have to settle. And whether they do that or not, there’s no willingness to negotiate if you have a case against you.

“So if they all have a break and then they can meet and find something, then maybe there’s something. But I think Greg needs to go, first, and then obviously he’s going to blame us. freely.”

Rory McIlroy says Greg Norman should step down as head of LIV Golf immediately because the golf circuit needs a 'big man in the room' to resolve their dispute.

Woods’ comments were similar to those made by McIlroy at the DP World Tour Championship last month.

“So I think there are a few things that need to be done,” McIlroy said. “So obviously there are two cases going on at the moment – there’s the PGA Tour against LIV, and there’s this one coming up with the DP World Tour in February. Nothing’s going to happen if those two things are still going on, basically – yeah, you. There’s very little you can do.

“So I think whatever happens with these two things, there are a few things that I want to see on the LIV side that need to happen. I think Greg needs to go. I think he just needs to get out. He made his mark, but I think this is the right time to say, look , you’ve got it off the ground, but nobody’s going to talk unless there’s a big guy in the room who’s going to try to mend the fences. .”

Norman believes he can be the one to fix the fences despite what Woods and McIlroy think.

Tiger Woods praised Rory McIlroy for being clear in supporting the PGA Tour amid controversy surrounding the LIV Golf Tour.

“Of course, it can happen under my leadership,” Norman said. “I mean, Tiger could be the messenger, right? Who knows. All I know is we’re going to keep doing what we’re doing with LIV, and we’re just going to keep moving forward.”

In fact, the two-time winner and World Golf Hall of Famer says he’s doing an excellent job running LIV.

“No matter where I go in the world, no one — not one person — has ever said what I’m doing is stupid or wrong,” Norman said.
