Later in the episode, the two clashed over Janelle’s decision to rent an RV to stay at the family’s Coyote Pass home while they waited for construction there. Kody wanted Janelle to rent or buy another place this time, instead of living in an RV. Additionally, there have been months of conflict between Kody and his sons and Janelle, Gabe and Garrisonon Kody’s strict COVID-19 rules.
As the 2021 holiday season approaches, Kody and Janelle meet to discuss what they want. Janelle brought up Kody and Gabe and Garrison’s problems, and said that they were doing it to another woman. Robyn Brown, which actually caused distance. “I got text messages from Gabe and Garrison, blaming me for what was going on in the family,” said Robyn in her confessional. Kody told Janelle: “Some family members don’t want to acknowledge family members or talk to other family members. I have someone in my life [Robyn] who is really loyal to me, who sees me as the head of the family.”
Janelle was shocked by what Kody said and thought he just wanted to be like Robyn. On the other hand, he insisted that he just wanted Janelle’s loyalty. Janelle said: “It makes me so angry that they think that this one woman was a perfect person like a saint, who was very kind to us and they treated her badly.” “Kody has been breaking his record in this matter. Robyn was abused. I don’t see it that way.”
The conversation then moved to Kody accusing Janelle of being a “single woman” rather than the man she married. Janelle said: “I enjoy my independence. “I don’t know how it started, but I enjoy it. I feel like we lost something.”
As Kody tries to force Janelle to be faithful, she realizes. “Maybe this isn’t a good fit,” he told her. “Maybe this isn’t working.” Janelle explained that she felt that he was faithful. She said that she felt like “the rules” were changing because Kody always encouraged her to be independent. “I never thought that I would be in a place where I would doubt my relationship,” added Janelle in her confession. But over the past few years I’ve begun to question whether we are even compatible. Maybe this doesn’t work for me anymore. I don’t know if you can suddenly change the way our relationship was for 30 years. Maybe that’s a sign that it’s not working anymore. I’m not one to throw in the towel on marriage, but it seems like there’s this gulf and I can’t give it to her. [what he wants].”
Janelle told Kody that she was his best “friend” and confidante, and Kody admitted that he didn’t want to lose another woman like Christine did. Janelle said: “I feel like I have to do everything I can to make this work possible.” “I’m not sure it’s possible to go back to where we are.”
