At the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, Lizzo walked away with a major honor: “People’s Champion Award!” In addition, the “Rumors” singer received the award from her mother, Shari Johnson-Jefferson.

Showing off her daughter on stage, Shari proudly said that Lizzo “showed us all that we don’t have to follow anyone’s standards to be happy.”
After being welcomed and receiving the honor, Lizzo continued to give a brief acknowledgment before sharing the show with the other revolutionaries.
“Being an icon isn’t about how long you’ve had your platform. Being an icon is what you do with that platform. And since the beginning of my career, I’ve used my platform to amplify oppressed voices. So, tonight I’m sharing that honor. Make noise for the people, all of you!”
They then welcomed 17 activists to the arena, including Shirley Raines, Amariyanna Copeny (aka Little Miss Flint), and Tamika Palmer-Bronna Taylor’s mother.
One by one, Lizzo went through and summarized the causes of the activists, showing that they really wanted to honor real living artists to the people. Eventually, he concluded by saying, “The power will always be with the people!”

At this point, we should add that reports started appearing last month that Lizzo will receive the honor. According to MiscellaneousCassandra Tryon – senior at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming – explained the decision by praising Lizzo’s motivation.
“She leads with kindness, advocates for increased professional inclusion and equity in the industry and beyond. Her commitment to breaking barriers and empowering others to use their own voices to create change makes her a ‘People’s Champion.’
Lizzo was just recognized as the Top TikTok Creator of 2022
Lizzo received the People’s Champion Award on the same day that TikTok gave her its own honor.
Like The Shade Room Previously, the social network named Lizzo the #1 “Hitmaker” of the year. Other stars who received a shout out in the category include Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, and Selena Gomez, while artists like Ice Spice, GloRilla, and Muni Long were included in the “Emerging Artists” category.
