Meta is hosting a concert for the late Notorious BIG. Yes, you read that correctly.
Meta is celebrating Biggie’s 50th birthday with a virtual reality concert where a “hyper-realistic” avatar of Biggie will perform Biggie’s hits. The event is a collaboration between Willingie, Gunpowder & Sky, and The Notorious BIG Estate and will take place on Dec. 16 at Horizon Worlds.
Apple’s actual components may reach next March $2,000
Before the concert, there will be a fun day in the life of Biggie in Brooklyn. It will feature a story from American author and music journalist Touré. The concert will also feature performances from Sean “Diddy” Combs, The Lox, Latto, Nardo Wick, and Lil’ Cease.
This is not the first time that technology has helped fans to meet their favorite artists after their death. Notably, the hologram of the late Elvis Presley sang with Celine Dion on American Idol and the hologram of Tupac who performed with Snoop Dogg at Coachella in 2012. As virtual technology advances, so do the opportunities for events such as Biggie’s concert that would not be possible in the real world.
The concert also comes at a time when metaverse concerts are gaining a lot of attention. This year MTV launched the “Best Metaverse Performance” category which BLACKPINK won for their “beautiful” concert in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUGB) Mobile.
