A missing black man has been found dead two weeks after he was last seen stumbling Houston bar after a night out with friends.
Authorities have confirmed that the body found floating in the Houston Ship Channel on Friday was 26-year-old Delano Burkes, according to THERE 11.
Tugboat crews were the first to see Burkes’ body, the report said.
Burkes disappeared on November 13 while hanging out with friends in the Heights neighborhood, when surveillance video showed him leaving a bar at McIntyre and West 19th Street.

Missing Man’s Family Believes “Something Bad” Happened After Body Was Found.
She is said to have escorted him from the bar, and was last seen stumbling across the street. Burkes’ family said he appeared to be in pain.
Other footage showed him wandering around the area shortly after 1am
Burkes’ mother, Karen Jeffrey, said the family believed “something terrible” had happened to him.
“We believe it’s something bad that happened to him. He didn’t seem like he was in control of his legs. It didn’t seem like he was going to go very far,” Burkes’ mother, Karen Jeffrey, said at a press conference last week, KTRK reported.

Family Believes Delano Burkes Drunk on Drugs at Houston Bar Before Appearing, Death
His family added that it appeared Burkes had taken drugs. Although the investigators say that there is currently no evidence that he took drugs, they said that so far they have not denied it.
Meanwhile, the Burkes will test him to find out what killed him.
His mother went on to say that Burkes’ friends got into his car and went home without him leaving alone.
The family had been distributing posters with his photo in the area where he was last seen in a bid to find him on Friday before his tragic death.
Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward through Crime Stoppers for any information leading to Burkes’ disappearance and death.

“There can be a lot that can help this family find closure, and comfort in this difficult time,” the Democrat said after Burkes’ death was confirmed, according to Fox 26 Houston. “We would like to ask the public to continue to help us find out what happened to Delano Burkes.”
Death Still Under Investigation as Burkes’ Widow Writes Heartbreaking Stream on Instagram
Burkes is survived by his wife, Autumn, who posted a tribute to her husband on Instagram. She has known him since she was 13, the report said.
“There are no words to describe the pain I feel right now,” the young widower wrote on Instagram. “There is so much life that was meant to be lived and so much love to give. You were a very gentle soul filled with energy and joy. Your smile got me through the darkest times and your sense of humor got me through the lowest things. “
The case remains under investigation by the Houston Police Department’s homicide unit – which is used in cases involving the death of a missing person.
