Forward Marcus Rashford’s second goal earned England a 3-0 win over neighbors Wales, sending them into the World Cup’s last 16 as Group B winners and ending Welsh hopes of reaching the knockout stages.
The game came to a head on Tuesday when Rashford curled a free-kick on the edge of the area in the 50th minute before Phil Foden got unmarked at the far post to beat Harry Kane into the net a minute later.
Rashford struck last when he cut inside and somehow found the net with a shot that went through the legs of goalkeeper Danny Ward in the 68th minute.
The win took England seven points clear of a tie against Senegal in the next round, while Wales finished bottom by one point as their first World Cup in 64 years ended without a win and just one goal in three games.
