Former Brazil star Neymar returned from injury to help his side crush the World Cup hopes of plucky South Korea in a game dominated by the South Americans 4-1.
The carnage started early as Brazil’s Vinicius Jr opened the scoring at Doha’s Stadium 974 in the seventh minute when he turned Neymar.
Three more goals from Neymar, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta at the end of the first half were all unanswered.
The South Koreans, who came alive in the second half as they battled to prevent Brazil from going away with the game, managed to keep the unbeaten Brazilians from finding the back of the net for the rest of the game.
A strong effort in the second half bought them an individual goal from Paik Seung-ho in the 77th minute, which upset the South American juggernaut as they secured victory and the quarter-finals of the eighth World Cup.
Brazil will now face Croatia at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, on Friday, December 9, 2022.
