There can be no better form of interview to reveal one’s inner weaknesses than First We Feast’s Hot – and it’s happening frames creator Ramy Youssef, as well as being very funny, is also able to be impressively philosophical under pressure.
“If we make this poem it won’t hurt,” Youssef says at one point, after using the metaphor of retirement to explain why he’s saving his milk for the last fragrant wings instead of drinking it quickly. “Maybe that’s what all poetry is about, so I don’t feel pain. That might be the meaning of poetry! I didn’t understand poetry until I had soup number seven.”
