Rangers chairman Douglas Park told the club’s AGM that Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent’s Rangers bid for Rangers would be “impossible”.
Both players are out of contract at the end of the season and could talk to other clubs from January as they enter the final six months of their deals.
Winger Kent has failed to show his best form this season, while Morelos is now the second striker behind Antonio Colak.
Colombia international Morelos was sacked by former boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst ahead of their Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven after concerns about his attitude and fitness.
Ibrox fans asked for answers about all the players at the club’s AGM in Glasgow on Tuesday morning.
The shareholder asked why it was not sold last summer as the club faced the prospect of losing players who, in recent months, were two of their most important assets.
Sporting director Ross Wilson initially raised the question: “It’s not allowed. Two teams have to commit.
“Ryan and Alfredo are in different situations but there is a desire for the boys to be with us at the club.”
He also revealed that the funds of both were canceled due to not meeting the team price.
Wilson added: “Why didn’t they go in the summer? We turned down offers for both players because the players were very important and we became league champions in the same season.”
Chairman Douglas Park then said that Rangers had given their best.
“The board tried to negotiate and sometimes if the terms are not met you have to accept that you have done your best.”
Beale is determined to keep Kent and Morelos safe
Morelos and Kent are among 11 Rangers players out of contract at the end of the season.
In a special interview with Sky Sports newsNew manager Michael Beale said he believed his relationship with the players would help in the negotiations, insisting it was not up to them to decide.
“They are two players I have worked well with in the past,” he said.
“When I was here before they were all very good in different ways.
“Alfredo, in terms of the goals he scored, and Ryan in terms of how he entertains the crowd and gets on the ball and takes the game to the opposition.
“I think they’re more capable than they’re showing right now, it’s fair to say, but they’ll have their reasons and they’ll do something about it.
“I believe in both players and we have played as a club with Connor Goldson and the way he is in his contract.
“Sometimes a player wants to see and take time, no problem, that’s fine. I think the process is all processes with the players, the cards are not in the hands of Ryan and Alfredo.
“We also want to make Rangers strong going forward, with or without those players. Good for them.”
