TOKYO (Reuters) – Automakers Renault (EPA:) and Nissan (OTC:) are scheduled to stop announcing Dec. 7 for a new deal on their revised contract as they struggle to resolve their differences, Japanese TV network JNN reported on Friday.
The two parties are engaged in negotiations to renew their agreement. Renault is looking to Nissan for its EV business, while Nissan wants to sell a 43% stake in Renault to Nissan to put the two partners on an equal footing.
The two parties decided to hold off on the announcement on December 7 as they had not agreed since Friday on how to share intelligence, JNN said.
There are no new plans to create one, the report added. It was not clear from the report whether JNN was citing a single source or multiple sources.
Neither Renault nor Nissan immediately responded to a request for comment.
Reuters previously reported that both sides raised Dec. 7 as a possible date to announce the new contract plan.
The question of how to divide technology and intellectual property has proven to be a central part of the discussion.
