SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker Vinicius Jr is trying to end his sponsorship deal with Nike Inc (NYSE: ), the UOL website reported on Sunday, saying that the actor feels he is being treated unfairly by the US company.
Vinicius Jr, who is currently with the national team at the Qatar World Cup, has contacted lawyers to investigate lawsuits seeking to terminate the contract that runs until 2028, the report said.
Nike did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside of business hours.
The 22-year-old Vinicisu Jr has become one of Nike’s biggest assets in Brazil, which is also supported by the US sportswear manufacturer, after the company terminated its contract with Neymar in 2021.
