St Helens prepared for next Saturday’s World Club Challenge against the Penrith Panthers with a comfortable 30-18 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons in Wollongong.
Tries from Lewis Dodd, Jack Welsby, Tommy Makinson, Joey Lussick and Tee Ritson secured an encouraging victory for the Super League champions ahead of their clash with the Panthers next week.

Saints came out of the NRL Pre-Season Challenge to lead by 10 after 12 minutes.
Dodd pounced on James’ clever ball before Roby Makinson stopped two bouncers to feed Welsby near the try line.
Converted tries in the space of three minutes from Zac Lomax and Treigh Stewart, however, put the Dragons ahead just after half-time.
Makinson pushed the Saints level and the winger showed excellent footwork to cut through a number of defenders and establish a 16-12 halftime lead.
The second half was a tight affair until substitute Lussick slipped close on 64 minutes and Ben Davies added the extras.
Saints scored a fifth try when Ritson fired over and Davies converted again.
Savelio Tamale scored with his first touch to give the Dragons some late hope, but Davies finished the scoring with a free kick.
