Jake Reeves scored a stunning goal to put Stevenage on course to go clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two with a 5-0 win over rivals Barrow at the Lamex Stadium.
Second-placed Boro moved to within two points of leaders Leyton Orient as they resolutely denied the fourth-placed Bluebirds the chance to seal the promotion spot on their own.
A stunning strike from Reeves opened the scoring after 18 minutes when he was gifted a shot from 25 yards that flew past a helpless Paul Farman.
A poor finish from Farman saw the hosts extend their lead five minutes into the second half when Jamie Reid fired the ball into an empty net from 30 yards.
A scoreline was secured when an unmarked Dan Sweeney headed in Reeves’ corner and it got even better for Stevenage when a Luke Norris penalty made it four.
It was, however, a miserable night for Barrow and it was summed up when Tyrell Warren headed a Reeves corner into his own net with four minutes remaining.
