The new charges against the Oscar-winning Hollywood actor come months after he filed charges against four others.
Prosecutors in London have accepted seven new charges of sexual assault against Hollywood Oscar winner Kevin Spacey.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said on Wednesday that the House of Cards and American Beauty star has been charged with “a number of same-sex offenses between 2001 and 2004”.
It also pleaded guilty to “one count of unlawful sexual activity” against the 63-year-old actor, who lives in the United States.
The CPS, which is responsible for prosecuting cases in England and Wales, said the seven new cases relate to crimes committed before and after 2003, when new sex laws came into force.
This means that Spacey is now facing 11 sex-related charges in Britain.
Previous charges
Spacey in July pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey court in London to four counts of assaulting three men between 2005 and 2013 in London and Gloucestershire in the west of England.
None of the alleged victims can be identified under English law. A reporting ban prevents information from being disclosed before a trial.
Spacey appeared freely in a London court when the first charges were brought and said he would defend himself against the charges.
The allegations refer to his time as artistic director at London’s Old Vic Theatre, between 2004 and 2015.
A New York court last month dismissed a $40 million sexual assault lawsuit filed by Spacey and actor Anthony Rapp, who claimed the Hollywood star shot him when he was 14 years old.
The judge ruled that Rapp had brought the case too late to be prosecuted.
Spacey’s Hollywood career ended five years ago when Rapp’s allegations came to light and he was dropped from the final season of House of Cards and other upcoming projects.
The allegations came in the wake of the #MeToo movement which saw many allegations of sexual harassment and abuse in the film industry.
He has always denied allegations of sexual abuse.
In 2019, charges against the perpetrator of sexual assault and sexual assault were dismissed in Massachusetts.
