Sky Sports Racing’s Matt Chapman made it six wins from seven on his last outing in Wales and has returned with five to follow from Chepstow on Saturday…
For some, Tingle Creek’s day at Sandown on Saturday will be a big one, but I’m going to Chepstow for Sky Sports Racing and I have to tell you it promises to be a card keeper.
Chepstow is one of those tracks that makes an impression, every jump, and here are five horses to watch out for on Saturday, stay on Sky Sports Racing.
Make up your own mind
Coral Racing Club Novices’ Challenge (12.27)
The Paul Nicholls-trained jockey has only run three times under Rules and two of those have been at Chepstow so by the end of this run he would have been successful in three of his four starts. With a score of 121 he should be hard to stop, even with a second look at Well Dick for Charlie Longsdon who has been a favorite for two points.
Confidential Return
Coral Welsh Grand National Trial (1.37)
Remarkably, he ran twice in the Welsh National in 2021, and looked to have the world at his feet as he stole the show in January and was tipped as a Cheltenham Gold Cup horse. In December of that year, he was also fifth in the competition. Since then, the wheels have fallen off, but most have allowed the Evan Williams athlete to return to his 134 level which should be generous.
Wayfinder
Coral Welsh Grand National Trial (1.37)
From 14 starts under Laws he has been to Chepstow five times and his last three attempts have been at the course. Both have been successful seeing her handicap increase by 20lb for Rebecca Curtis. He could easily step in for Paddy Brennan too.
Iron Bridge
Cazoo Novices Limited Handicap Chase (2.12)
It’s not often you find unbeaten horses in a handicap chase, but that’s the case with Iron Bridge going to Jonjo O’Neill’s father and son team. A mark of 137 seems too high for an inexperienced horse but he looked very impressive at Carlisle last time.
Salt Rock
Burnham Plastering & Drylining Novices’ Hurdle (2.47)
Kim Bailey pulls out the winner of a fun place in Salt Rock. The son of Soldier and Fortune cost £205,000 and should be a little run for owners who aren’t afraid to spend a little. It will be difficult to win the race but definitely someone to go to the paddock with me on Sky Sports Racing!
Watch every race on the Coral Welsh Grand National Trial card from Chepstow live on Sky Sports Racing (Sky 415 | Virgin 535) on Saturday Decmeber 3.
